As the saying generally goes, “no man is an islandâ€, our foundation strongly believes in effective collaboration and networking with other civil society organizations, donors and the government in pursuit or fulfillment of its mission. SLYI therefore seeks to establish effective and sustainable relationships with Civic Action for Progress CAP, a reputable organizations in Mile 91, north of Sierra Leone  in the achievement of our goals.

BACKGROUND

CAP is a Sierra Leonean local civil society advocacy and development organization established in July 2007 prior to the holding of the most feared August 11 Presidential and Parliamentary elections and the September 8 Presidential run-off elections. The organization was formed by a group of like-minded young people with an overriding aim to contribute meaningfully among other things to the efforts of strengthening democratic governance through broadening people’s active participation in local as well as national governance processes and in community development initiatives.   

         

VISION STATEMENT

A just, progressive, self-reliant and democratic society (Sierra Leone) where citizens, especially marginalized youths, women and children’s rights are protected, live in dignity, sustainable peace and actively participate in governance and development processes.

DISTINCTIVENESS

CAP aspires to continue to be championing the process of social change by facilitating the engagement of residents of both rural and urban communities with their leaders as a way of dialoging on issues of common concern such as governance and development for sustainable peace.

CAP is registered with the Government of Sierra Leone under the Ministry of Social Welfare Gender and Children’s Affairs and the Tonkolili District Council in the Northern region of Sierra Leone. The bankers are Rokel Commercial Bank in Freetown and Yoni Community Bank in Mile 91 where the organization is based.
